2015-2016 Strategic Planning

IEN was asked to design and facilitate five strategic planning efforts in 2015-2016. Campbell County Route 29 Corridor Planning Effort

The Virginia Transportation Research Council (VTRC), located at U.Va., initiated a pilot project with Campbell County to test a Federal Highways collaborative planning framework, known as PlanWorks. The project's focus is a busy 6.6-mile stretch of Route 29 on the south side of Lynchburg, beginning at the southern city limit and extending to Colonial Highway (Route 24). James River Transmission Line

To meet increasing demand for power, and the requirement to reduce the possibilities for brownouts or other forms of outages, Dominion has proposed a new transmission line to cross the James River at historic Williamsburg. Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional Certificate

A new professional certificate is being developed to assist in the Bay cleanup effort. Local governments wish to know who they can trust to design and install BMPs that will qualify and count toward their TMDL load reductions goals. Others wish to raise the bar, so that landscape professionals become more knowledgeable about Bay-appropriate design and BMPs, in design, implementation, and maintenance. Virginia Natural Resources Leadership Institute

The Virginia Natural Resources Leadership Institute is a program for emerging leaders confronted with Virginia's most pressing natural resource issues who seek new skills in conflict resolution and collaborative problem solving. Town of Shenandoah National Pilot Brownfields Redevelopment

(1999 - 2000) The Town of Shenandoah lies just below Shenandoah National Park. A Brownfields Assessment Pilot grant, finalized in October 1998, provided $200,000 to help the town determine  any contamination present in the soil or groundwater of the 65-acre \"Big Gem\" site, where an iron furnace had long ago ceased operations, and to create a cleanup and redevelopment plan. Claudius Crozet Blue Ridge Tunnel

(2014) The Claudius Crozet Blue Ridge Tunnel project has been in the works for many years and is ongoing. Safety and Health in Facilitating a Transition (SHIFT)

(2013) Between July and November of 2013, the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) convened a stakeholder group of 25 individuals representing nine interest groups to make recommendations for the future of its onsite septic program. Waynesboro Upper South River Watershed Planning

(2012) IEN facilitated in 2012 a multi-stakeholder consensus building effort involving diverse stakeholders in the Upper South River watershed. Stakeholders were charged with developing a mission and vision for the watershed, and identifying a structure for watershed stewardship.
